What is Food Intolerance?

Food intolerance is your bodies inability to process/digest certain modern foods. These partially digested foods can leave half broken down proteins that are unrecognised by the body to enter the bloodstream. Once these proteins reach the thyroid gland that governs your body’s metabolism, the trouble begins. Gluten (from wheat) and lactose (from diary) are two common intolerances that affect millions of people.

How does it affect Health?

Metabolism is our body’s way of dealing with the energy that our foods produce when combined with oxygen. A “fast metabolism” burns stored fat faster, a “slow metabolism” burns fat slower and a “muddled metabolism” will over store or overburn energy when it’s not meant to.  So you gain weight without overeating or you simply can’t put on any weight no matter how much you eat.

These troublesome half digested proteins can also disturb the absorption of other foods that are vital to healthy digestion, causing widespread inflammatory process such as Coeliac disease. It can also stress and exhaust the immune system leaving us more susceptible to other opportunistic bugs and infections.

Need Help?

If you have been regularly working out but still find it difficult to lose weight or if you feel your appetite doesn’t justify those extra kilos you are carrying, or you are sick of people commenting on how thin you are……. it might be time to get checked for food intolerances, as it is not immediately obvious as symptoms can be too vague to pinpoint this common culprit.

Common Food Intolerances include (but not exclusive) to gluten, fructose, wheat, dairy, lactose, yeast, food additives, food preservatives, nightshade vegies, soy products and corn.

Our Naturopaths have been working with food intolerances for over a decade. They incorporate comprehensive examinations and tests that provide the basis of sound treatment protocols to get the best results on an individual basis.

Commonly patients report weight loss, improved mental clarity (no more brain fog), increased energy levels, loss of a bloated tummy and even improved muscle development.

This small step can be life changing getting rid of nagging long-term health issues with a simple natural approach that does not leave you dependent on lifetime medications.
