Digestex is a practitioner-formulated tablet built on bitter herbs: dandelion root, lemon balm, meadowsweet, gentian, cinnamon and ginger. The label indicates it for the relief of digestive discomfort such as bloating, flatulence and intestinal spasms, and for stimulating the digestive secretions that break a meal down. Bitters are an old idea with a plain mechanism. The taste itself prompts the stomach and gallbladder to get going before the food arrives, which is why the directions say to take it with food rather than after it.
