How it works

How naturopathic care works

Naturopathic care can include herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, dietary and lifestyle strategies, and testing where appropriate. What is recommended depends on your individual health concerns, history and goals.

Herbal medicine

When herbal medicine is appropriate, your naturopath selects and combines herbs for your individual needs. Formulas can be adjusted over time as your circumstances and response to treatment change.

Nutritional medicine

Food and dietary changes are considered first where appropriate, with nutritional supplements recommended when there is a clear reason to use them.

In person or by telehealth

Consultations are available in person, by phone or by video at the same fee. If your concerns require a physical assessment, your naturopath will let you know and arrange an in-person appointment.

Testing, where appropriate

Testing can sometimes help answer a specific clinical question. Depending on your circumstances, this may include pathology, functional testing, saliva hormone testing or hair mineral analysis. Your naturopath will explain why a test may be useful and its cost before you decide whether to proceed.

Testing

Tests you can order

Three laboratory tests can be ordered directly, without a consultation first. Each has its own page explaining what it measures, how to collect your sample, and what the result can and cannot tell you.

A laboratory report is not a diagnosis on its own. Where testing is appropriate, your naturopath can explain what it may help clarify and how the results should be considered in the context of your medical history, medications, symptoms and other relevant information before any clinical decisions are made.

Before ordering a hair test

A hair mineral order requires three things:

  1. Your sample
  2. Your completed questionnaire
  3. Your payment

The laboratory cannot begin until all three have arrived. A sample sent without the completed questionnaire will be held until the missing information is received.

Conditions

What people come here with

People seek naturopathic care for a wide range of health concerns. These are some of the areas the naturopaths here commonly work with. If you don't see your particular concern listed, contact us and we'll let you know whether naturopathy may be appropriate.

Foods that support digestive health

Digestive and gut health

Digestive concerns are one of the main reasons people see the naturopaths here. We consider your symptoms alongside your diet, lifestyle, health history and other relevant factors.

Naturopathic support for hormonal and reproductive health

Hormonal, fertility and reproductive health

Naturopathic care may be considered alongside appropriate medical care for concerns relating to menstrual health, fertility, reproductive health and menopause.

Naturopathic support for skin and immune health

Skin, immune and autoimmune health

Skin and immune concerns can have multiple contributing factors. Your naturopath will consider your individual history and circumstances when deciding what areas may be relevant to your care.

Naturopathic support for energy and vitality

Energy, stress and metabolic health

People also seek naturopathic support when fatigue, prolonged stress, changes in weight or other health concerns are affecting their everyday life.

Other concerns

This is not an exhaustive list. Naturopathic care does not replace appropriate medical diagnosis or treatment. Where your concerns require assessment by a GP, specialist or other health professional, your naturopath will discuss this with you and may recommend appropriate referral.
