A laboratory analysis measuring 36 elements — essential minerals and toxic metals — from a small hair sample you collect at home. There is no kit posted out to you; you cut the sample and send it in. Results take three to four weeks from the day the clinic receives the sample. This is a screening measurement, not a diagnostic test: it does not diagnose nutrient deficiency and it does not diagnose heavy metal poisoning. A known or suspected exposure is confirmed on blood or urine, which your naturopath can arrange — the pathology centre charges its own fees.

- About a tablespoon of freshly washed hair, from four or five places
